At Garage Sale City (garagesalecity.org), we're really trying to build a following of regular (weekly) sellers, and while the "if you build it, they will come" seems to be working, we're looking for ideas that will draw both buyers and sellers from greater distances and make Garage Sale City a place that is unique and fresh each week.

As a seller, other than free space at the sale, aggressive advertising, or knowing that 100s or even 1000s of peoples will have access to your items, what would motivate you to come out and spend your Friday or Saturday at a community sale?
Free space, free advertising, and 1,000s of people would be more than enough motivation for me as a seller. We have something similar here in Santa Cruz - its a monthly antiques street fair. Most of the vendors are dealers, and I see some of them early in the morning at estate sales no doubt sourcing their inventory. I may actually try and see how being a vendor is but first I would need to build up more inventory.
