What do you guys and girls do with old jewelry?  You know, the old bracelets and chains that you see in piles at garage sales.  At Garage Sale City this past weekend, there was an older couple who literally had a small wheelbarrow load of scrap jewelry.  I figure that with the price of gold the way that it is, there has to be a market for it...even if it's just melting it down.

Will someone shed some light on what to look for, how much to pay for it, and ultimately, how to convert it into CASH?
Charms do well, occasionally I'll see some charm bracelets or just the charms, and Ill swoop them up. Sometimes you get lucky and find a bunch of them for cheap. Be aware a lot of the stuff is fake. You need to learn to identify real gold and other precious metals/stones from the fake stuff. But sometimes you get lucky. A year or so ago my wife found an authentic antique cameo ring with small diamonds in it mixed in with the junk costume jewelry. We suspected it was real but weren't sure. We payed $3 for it, had it valued at a local jewelers at between $600 and $900 retail and sold it for $300 on ebay.
Wow, Mike! Way to go on the cameo find!

I usually don't look at jewelry much. I probably should though
